Feature article

Evidence Vs Intelligence

Workplace investigation reports often refer to the information on which the report findings are based. Sometimes the report will also refer to the evidence arising out of the investigation. Both these terms apply to the facts of the matter. At first glance these two terms often appear to be interchangeable. However, in the context of investigation reports, they have different meanings. Whilst all evidence is also information, not all information is evidence. Sounds confusing? The purpose of this article is to briefly explain the difference and outline some of the key rules of evidence applicable to investigations.

Transactional Analysis Revisited

Transactional analysis was developed 50 years ago by Erice Berne M.D. made popular in the book "I'm OK your OK" Transactional analysis is a simple to understand explanation of why we interact the way we do and how you can change to make communication more productive. Berne's original work stated that each of us as a Parent, Adult and Child ego state and when we communicate with another we are always communicating from one of the ego states - often this can produce complementary transactions but at other times it produces crossed transactions. This article revisits Bern's original theory and provides links to modern models based on his work.
