Welcome to our first newsletter for 2013

This year looks like there will be some major legislative changes moving towards equality in the workplace. Parental rights and anti-bullying legislation that will force employers to take claims of bullying seriously are on the industrial relations agenda for this year's election. Whatever the outcome of the election itself, there are guaranteed to be changes affecting the workplace. 

In this month's newsletter, Jo Kamira talks about gay marriage and what it means to her. Alison Page, our legal counsel addresses the proposed changes arising from the Parliamentary Inquiry into Workplace Bullying and Harassment, and WISE announces forthcoming dates for investigations training and the upcoming visit of Professor Ray Bull, international expert on Investigative Interviewing. 

Short courses on Conducting Workplace Investigations are filling fast.

Our first short course of the year will take place in Melbourne on March 20-22. This course focuses on how to conduct investigations into workplace misconduct, bullying and harassment. Included in the program is a full day on interviewing skills, how to draft allegations and conducting procedurally fair investigations. This course will provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake investigations within your workplace.

Webinar crazy!

WISE staff have been getting involved in the new world of webinars this year. Harriet Stacey presented two webinars for HR Daily in February on Investigative Interviewing. The live webinar was very well attended illustrating the high demand for these skills by HR professionals. The webinar and other supporting material is available from the HR Daily website.
